This week in the ‘About Autism West’ series, we’d like to introduce you to Janine Ripper, the newest addition to our team!
Janine started with us in October 2016 as our Marketing Specialist.
In my previous ‘life’ I was an IT project manager (for 12 years in the corporate world). After burning out too many times, and dealing with depression and anxiety for many years, I decided to branch out on my own and finally do what I love with people who inspired me, starting my own freelance writing, blogging and social media marketing business in 2014 and then moving into the not-for-profit space.
Janine enjoys working at Autism West because of the people, the flexibility it offers her plus the variety of work she gets to do, and the fact that she gets to do what she loves for a great cause. She also loves sharing her knowledge and love for social media with everyone.
Over the last few years Janine has become an active mental health advocate, sharing her own experiences with depression and anxiety publicly in the hope of helping others and reducing stigma associated with mental illness. She believes speaking up helps others people know they are not alone and that they can still lead amazing lives doing what they love.
2017 is looking to be a very exciting and busy year for Janine;
I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Autism West, promoting the good work they do, as well as event managing this years Autism West Symposium! If you’re interested in speaking or sponsoring the event, I’d love to talk to you!
If you’d like to contact Janine to discuss potential marketing opportunities with Autism West, or the 2017 Autism West Symposium to be held in November 2017, you can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
